Learning the skillsets to be a salon professional is hard work, another factor is learning how to work in a group environment. Teamwork is a major key to success. Blending personalities and work styles can be challenging at first, but when approached correctly, you can create a wonderful work atmosphere.

The first key to cultivating a team-oriented workplace is communication. Be straightforward about your strengths and weaknesses, so the team can better help fill the gaps where needed. Learning what you enjoy doing, and what you struggle with can be a great way to ask for help from your teammates.

Get to know your team personally. Taking the time out of the day to ask your co-workers how they are, and how their life is going can be a wonderful bridge to becoming closer and building empathy for that person. Knowing what people are going through can help us to understand moods and emotions and help us learn how to work better with one another.

Try team building activities. Plan an evening out, or a day off from work to spend a day doing team building activities. Whether they’re work related or just for fun, you will enjoy time spent with the team. Practicing your skills, taking a class related to work is a awesome way to help each other grow.

Working well with others is so beneficial in so many ways. When you create an environment where you get along with the people you’re working with every day, things go much more smoothly. Communicating, getting to know one another, creating empathy, and working on your craft together, is all apart of creating good flow in the work place.
