Summer is slowly but surely making its entrance. That means we need to up our sunscreen game! The link between skin cancer and sun exposure research shows staggering evidence. The more time we spend unprotected time in the sun we are exposing ourselves to the chance of premature aging or even worse skin cancer. So here are some things to know about sunscreen!
1- Broad Spectrum Sunscreen is the best. It’s also great to purchase broad spectrum sunscreen, meaning they protect us from UVB and UVA. UVA, or ultraviolet A is the least dangerous whereas UVB, which causes sunburns is the most danger rays.
2- Choose a high SPF. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, when you choose a sunscreen that is 30 and higher you are giving yourself greater protection from the powerful sun.
3- Reapply! Sunscreen can wear off with sweat, water, or prolonger time on. Reapply after a while to ensure that you are safe.
4- Choose Waterproof. Waterproof sunscreens can do a great job in helping at the popular summertime lake days and pool times.
5- Protect the kiddos! Always check with the sunscreen brand you’re using to see the age-appropriate usage of the product. Not all sunscreens can be applied to children and toddlers. Keep them extra safe by putting hats and protective clothing on them to shield them from the sun. Also choose areas where there is a protective covering so you can take breaks from the sun.
